Un sédiment est un ensemble de particules en suspension dans l'eau, l'atmosphère ou la glace et qui a fini par se déposer sous l'effet de la gravité, souvent en couches ou strates successives. Un sédiment est caractérisé par sa nature (composition physicochimique), son origine, sa granulométrie, les espèces qu'il contient et son éventuelle toxicité... La consolidation des sédiments est à l'origine de la formation des couches sédimentaires rocheuses.




Vous vous trouvez devant une paroi de sédiments, regardez bien la différence entre le sol et le haut de la paroi mais aussi l'environnement aux alentours.


Question 1 : Combien de strates comptez-vous ?


Ensuite rendez-vous au panneau d'informations (WP1) pour répondre aux questions suivantes

Question 2 : De quand date le socle ancien ?

Question 3 : Quels sédiments trouve t-on datant de - 120000 ans à - 80000 ans ?

Question 4 : La couche supérieur composée de limon fin date de - 5000 ans mais cette période corrrespond t-elle à une période glacière ou une période tempérée ?

A sediment is a collection of particles suspended in water, atmosphere or ice and which has eventually settled under gravity, often in successive layers or strata. A sediment is characterized by its nature (physicochemical composition), its origin, its granulometry, the species it contains and its possible toxicity ... The consolidation of the sediments is at the origin of the formation of the rocky sedimentary layers. You are in front of a sediment wall, look at the difference between the ground and the top of the wall but also the surrounding environment. Question 1: How many strata do you have? Then go to the information panel (WP1) to answer the following questions Question 2: When was the old base? Question 3: Which sediments are found dating from - 120,000 years to - 80,000 years ago ? Question 4: The upper stratum composed of fine silt dates from - 5000 years but does this period correspond to an ice age or a temperate period?
