November 22, 1963 - Four hundred people on the Cornelius G. Kloff ferry were brought to their watery graves by an octopus the size of a skyscraper. Without a trace, the Kloff and all it's passengers vanished.
No one is sure what prompted the Staten Island Ferry Octopus Disaster, but there is some speculation that a cephalopod worshipping cult might have been involved. Who else could summon forth such a gigantic octopus? It is rumored that after the disaster, they disbanded quickly to avoid being found... but their idol is still out there. Somewhere.
Should you find the idol, LEAVE IT WHERE IT IS! There is a chance that the moving of the Great Octopus' likeness is what triggered the tragedy in the first place.
