🐙 Idol Hands/Tentacles Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

opps: It's very unfortunate - the treeline in this area looks to have been recently attacked by tractors and front loaders. The cache was still perfectly intact in it's hiding tree, but the tree had been knocked down and would soon become inaccessible. Ukipiper is officially the last to find this cache in it's current location/incarnation. While the components will find a new home not far from this one, that distance will definitely fall outside of Geocaching's guidelines for distance while still being the same cache.

Do not fret - Octopuses grow their arms back in time.

Geocache Description:

An investigation into a mystery decades unsolved.

November 22, 1963 - Four hundred people on the Cornelius G. Kloff ferry were brought to their watery graves by an octopus the size of a skyscraper. Without a trace, the Kloff and all it's passengers vanished.

No one is sure what prompted the Staten Island Ferry Octopus Disaster, but there is some speculation that a cephalopod worshipping cult might have been involved. Who else could summon forth such a gigantic octopus? It is rumored that after the disaster, they disbanded quickly to avoid being found... but their idol is still out there. Somewhere.

Should you find the idol, LEAVE IT WHERE IT IS! There is a chance that the moving of the Great Octopus' likeness is what triggered the tragedy in the first place.
