Part of the Earthcache Edinburgh weekend in conjunction with the Edinburgh Geological Society. An event in Holyrood Park, beside Arthur's Seat. Come by the Edinburgh Geological Society tent for refreshments, discussions, introduction to geology of the area and an introduction to earthcaching. Volunteers will be on hand throughout the event times.
At the heart of the city, Arthur's Seat is also at the heart of the study of geology, with one of the unconformities identified by James Hutton, as well as spectacular igneous and sedimentary features. Nearby, modern architecture incorporates the geological story, while even the pavements bear fossils (new EC!). And that's only some of them. Away from earthcaches, Holyrood park also offers traditional geocaches, multis, puzzles and an epic Wherigo based on the dinosaurs of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's The Lost World. Never again will you view Salisbury Crags without looking for pterodactyls!
