Geocache Description:

This is one of a series of caches we put out on the Bighorn River. The names of the caches correspond to the names of the holes along the river from a time forty some years ago. It was a different place then. Each spot will get a little description as to how it came by its name now long forgetten. The caches are not loaded with swag but each has a fly and a 1937 Nickel. If you take the fly, please leave one in its place.

Number four of the series.  I had a cache on this island once before, but the island burned and so did the cache.

This isn't a hole as such.  It is the fastest, roughest run on the river with large standing waves and swift current.  You don't have to go down this channel, but Tom and I always did, and we always yelled, "BANZAI!" when we did.  There are a couple of nice holes on one side or the other.  One time I caught two fat Rainbows over four pounds apiece in the same spot on the west side.

On another trip I hooked something really big in the same hole.  It felt like it was the biggest fish I ever had on. It never broke the water so I assumed it to be a monster Brown. Tom waded out with the net to land it and to my utter astonishment and consternation he started beating the water and MY FISH with the net!  It was an 8+ pound CARP!  Well, it was fun anyway.
