Geocache Description:

Please join me to celebrate reaching 1,000 finds. This will be the first time I have hosted an event and intend logging it as number 1,000. I would be delighted if you came along!

The event will run from 1900 to 2200 or until everyone goes home.

The venue: -

The Willow Tree

Front Street

Barnby-in-the-Willows

Newark

NG24 2SE

Food is available and Wednesday is curry night. If you want to eat, let me know in your will attend log and I will pass it on to the pub.

I have yet to meet a geocacher who is not competitive, so rather than a chat and a drink, why not have a bit of competition also?

Bar Skittles

Three throws per turn are allowed so that the maximum score in one go is 27. The skittles are only reset at the beginning of a turn or when all 9 have been knocked over. The ball must start its revolution around the outside of the board so that it hits the skittles upon its return towards the player. The ball is permitted to go around the pole only once for each throw - the player should catch it as it returns so as to prevent it going round a second time. There will be three turns each, meaning the maximum score available is 81. The game will be a straight knockout drawn from the geocachers present at the event at 2000. The prize is a TB coin.

A bit of background: -

It all started for me on 27 August 2015 on the way to Peterborough Beer Festival with my brother-in-law and friend. As we walked from the train station to the beer festival we went past a bricked up toilet, still with the metal grills in place where the doors would have been. My brother-in-law said, “I bet there’s a geocache there”. Sure enough, we were stood next to GC51ZHB ‘Inconvenience’. Simon, my brother-in-law, who caches as Albertspangler, spent the rest of the day, as well as drinking, explaining geocaching. On the way back to the train station, we found GC3QGMQ ‘SIDETRACKED PETERBOROUGH’. That night, I joined as sponge_3 and my friend, Daryl, joined as Geohewy.

I wanted to make my first find the most local to me but on visiting the cache it was missing. Fortunately, after logging a DNF and a NM, the cache owner at the time, northking, replaced the container and on 12 September 2015 GC4ZMMR ‘Church Micro 2891…Barnby-in-the-Willows’ became my first find. The rest, is history!

Since then, I have adopted my first cache find and some others with it. I own 95 caches and have logged finds on 12 different cache types. I have 69 Church Micro caches with more planned.

I, like many others, like a trackable or two. I own quite a few and will be bringing them with me. If you have any trackables, whether they be tags or coins, please bring them with you for others to admire and discover.

I hope you are able to come to my event. If I’ve forgotten anything or you want to ask any questions, please get in touch and let me know. I hope to see you there!
