Geocache Description:

About Village Sign Caches

This cache belongs to the Village Sign Series, a series of caches based on ornate signs that depict the heritage, history and culture of the villages that put them up (generally on the village green!).

The signs can be made of different materials from fibreglass to wood, from forged steel to stone. They can depict anything from local industry to historical events. The tradition probably started in Norfolk or Suffolk and has now spread across most of the country so we thought we would base a series on them!

More information, bookmarks and statistics can be found at the Village Signs Website

If anybody would like to expand the Village Sign Series, please do.
I would ask that you request a number for your cache first at www.villagesignseries.co.uk
so we can keep track of the Village Sign numbers and names to avoid duplication.

Bottisham is a village and civil parish in the East Cambridgeshire district of Cambridgeshire, England, about 6 miles (10 km) east of Cambridge, halfway to Newmarket. According to the 2001 census it had a population of 1,983, including Chittering, increasing to 2,199 at the 2011 Census.

The cache is NOT at the published coordinates due to the proximity of the CM.

Visit the published cordinates, which is the village sign, and answer some questions to find the coordinates of the cache.

Examine the area around the village sign and then extract the numbers represented by letters in bold and red

There is a village pump nearby with K little black spikes sticking out of the ground.

There is a plaque in the ground near the sign. The WI buried a time capsule in month M and year JNPQ. There are G words all in CAPS on the plaque, C letters in the first word of the penultimate line and D letters in the first word of the last line

There is an interesting notice board between the road and the sign. The year mentioned with "I was naked & Ye clothed me." is ARBH.

E = M - J

F = R -G

Cache is at N 52° AB.CDE E000° FG.HJK
