Geocache Description:

This a multi cache that takes you along the track beside the river. The answers to the questions are at the published co-ordinates. You are looking for a small cliplock box.

This is a series of caches that follow the disused railway track alongside the River Wye to Biblins Bridge and then back on the other side of the river to the ferry opposite Symonds Yat East (3 miles in total).

The Peregrine Path is a cross boundary route that straddles the English Welsh border and connects Monmouth with Symonds Yat within the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It used to be the Ross and Monmouth railway line. There was a station where the last hotel now stands. Opened in 1873, it consisted of two platforms and a timber station building on the down platform, it closed in 1959 with the closure of the line. The railway curved round at the second waypoint away from the river and through a tunnel under Yat Rock, which is now behind the hotel.

The section from Symonds Yat East to Biblin's Bridge is flat and traffic free so is an ideal walking/cycling route, suitable for all ages and for pushchairs and wheelchair users. The bridge however, is probably not suitable for either. Once you have crossed over the bridge, there is a bit of a hill at the end which then goes down to the hand ferry which will take you back to Symonds Yat East. The ferry is about £1.50 per person and will take bikes for a small additional charge.

There is plenty of Pay and Display parking at Symonds Yat East but it can get very busy at peak times.

The published coordinates take you to a very interesting information board by the ice-cream kiosk where you need to answer 3 questions. Question 4 is at Waypoint 2 which is on the old platform.

Q1 - Photo: How many yards is tunnel under the Yat? = AAB

Q2 - Pink ferry ticket: How many letters in the first name? = C

Q3 - Pink ferry ticket: How many letters in the surname? = D

Q4 - Red and White sign: How many words on the top line? = E

The cache can be found at:

Checksum - A+B+C+D+E=20
