The best way to approach this cache is from the Grandview trailhead which can be found by driving past the town of Hanna, Utah. When you reach the Defas Dude Ranch on a well maintained dirt road, you will turn east on to a raod that begins your climb to the trailhead. This is also a dirt road and is very narrow. When the road is dry it is passable in a car.
Be sure to sign the trailhead registry before you start your climb to Hades Pass. When you've reached Hades Pass, your journey begins downhill. You will see Heart Lake on the right as you descend, followed soon thereafter by the giant Grandaddy Lake. Your path to the base of the East Grandaddy mountain range is up to you at this point. I suggest a base camp at the out-of-the-way Fern Lake, which is pristine and less visited, due to the more popular and stocked lakes to the north and west of Grandaddy lake. From Fern lake the cache is only 3/4 miles away.
I climbed the north face on the east side of where the cache was hidden. The intended location of this cache was originally on top of the East Grandaddy mountain range. However, considering the difficulty of reaching the top, including the use of special gear, I decided that the cache would be better hidden (and found in the future) in a more accessible area. (Knowing full well that not too many people would be hauling in gear for this cache.) Thus, the cache is not on "the top," but it is instead hidden amongst the rocks where the view is breathtaking. Enjoy the view, for that is why I have hidden the cache.
