Geocache Description:

The “caches” are located in Alto Alentejo region, near the megalithic monuments of Castelo de Vide. The route is easily done by car, except for short pedestrian courses in order to find the “caches” or visit the megalithic monuments.

TOUR THROUGH THE HISTORICAL-ENVIRONMENTAL HERITAGE OF CASTELO DE VIDE Inside the present tour, we’ll find 4 “caches” which are pretty close to the pre-historical monuments in this famous and beautiful county of Castelo de Vide. It’s our intention, preparing this adventure, to offer all the adventurers a pleasant visit to the main megalithic monuments in this region of Alto Alentejo and, furthermore, a “treasure hunt”. The route starts and ends on the crossroads to Póvoa e Meadas, on road number 246. You must go towards Portalegre, in order to find the first “cache”, which is near the Sobral Dolmen. You must get back through the same road, taking the direction of Alpalhão, where you can find the Melriça Dolmen before the crossroads to the Póvoa e Meadas dam. Taking this road you’ll find the second “cache”, opposite to the Currais do Galhordas and Tapada do Souto Dolmens. Follow the route towards the beautiful village of Póvoa e Meadas, passing by the dam. Go on to the Meada Menhir where you’ll find the third “cache”. We suggest taking a break both at the damp and at the village. After finding the third “cache” having visited the Menhir, follow the route to the Coureleiros Megalithic Park where you’ll find the fourth and last “cache”. Go on to the end of the route. Pay attention: Follow the instructions inside the caches.
