Geocache Description:

Another of the Ghost Town caches. Located at an elevation of 7871 feet.

Sunset is not a true ghost town, there are residents living at the townsite and in the area. The cache is located above the townsite on the Switzerland Trail. There are two ways to get here, one is very easy and makes this a very easy cache. The other is to take the Switzerland Trail. If you take the Switzerland Trail, it would probably be rated a 2 for terrain. There are several areas a low clearance vehicle would have trouble clearing. Also, if you get on the trail from Boulder CR 52 its a 4 mile trip on a single lane trail with very few places to pass an oncoming vehicle. If you take the Switzerland Trail starting at CR 52, do the Geocache cache by geomite first, its a fun cache to do.

Travel Bug: Ghost 7 Its attached to the bear and they travel together

If you take the easy route to or from the cache, you will go thru the old town of Wallstreet. Close to the road you will see the remains of the Wallstreet Mill. Unusual in that it was made of stone.


This is a very easy cache for anyone of any age. The purpose is not to make the caches in any of this series hard to find, but to get people to see and learn the history of the mining era in Colorado. I will be updating all of the caches to include a bit of the history and pictures that I take or can find of the "boom" days.
