Range Finder Traditional Geocache

There is just one place on Dartmoor where you are not in any of the military firing ranges, but one pace in any of 3 directions will take you into one of the ranges.  Where these three rangers meet you will find this unique range pole and very close by this cache.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Although the range pole shown above is NOT in any of the 3 military ranges, the cache is a few paces into the Merrivale Military Range. It is NOT in the Willsworthy Military Range.

In order to reach the range pole you may decide to enter one of the Military Ranges where live firing occurs. You must check out the Firing Notices before entering any of the ranges. DO NOT ENTER THE RANGE WHEN THE RED FLAGS ARE FLYING. Never pick up any objects, they may be unexploded devices.

The weather on Dartmoor can change suddenly and unexpectedly and ALL types of weather conditions can be experienced. Please ensure that you have the correct clothing and map & compass (and know how to use them). Please do NOT rely solely on your GPS.
