Church Micro 10438… Hurstpierpoint - Methodist
The present Methodist church was built in 1981 replacing an older building known as the Wesleyan Chapel which was constructed in red brick in 1910. The first record of Methodism in the village is in 1833, and the members met in various homes and properties until 1868 when they purchased the Independent Chapel in Manor Road which was used until the Cuckfield Road building was constructed.
This cache can be done as part of the College Circuit walk.
The cache is not at this location but is only a short walk away.
To obtain the final coordinates search for the two old foundation stones set on either side of the front of the building. One was laid by Ethel Paine in 1910 on behalf of the Sunday School and the other was laid by James Elliott in memory of Mr and Mrs White in 1909.
Make the number of letters in Mr White's first name minus 4 as 'a'. Make the number of letters in Ethel's third name minus 3 as 'b'.
