Wacton's village sign stands in a little patch of green next to the bus shelter, close to where Church road and Common road meet Stratton road. The sign was erected by the villagers of Wacton to commemorate the silver jubilee of the reign of H.M Queen Elizabeth II. The sign depicts the postmill which once stood on Wacton Common. It also shows the church tower and Wacton born John Aylmer who escaped arrest by hiding in a wine barrel! The name Wacton may derive from the Old English meaning Wacca's Enclosure.
The coordinates are for the Village sign and not for the final geocache. The cache is about a ten minute walk from the Village sign. You'll find all of the information that you need to obtain the coordinates on the plaques on the Village sign.
