About Trefforest Station (English: Treforest)
Trefforest station serves the village of Treforest and its surrounding areas. Treforest is best known for its University of South Wales campus and the Glyntaff campus is also a short distance away. The village has historical connections with the Crawshay family who bought land to build a tin plate works in 1794. It was also the home of South Wales and Monmouthshire School of Mines which was originally established in 1913. The increasing demand for higher education saw the School of Mines evolve several times before becoming a Polytechnic by 1970. It was awarded university status in 1992 when it was re-named the University of Glamorgan before becoming the University of South Wales when it merged with Cardiff Metropolitan University and University of Wales, Newport in 2013.
Trefforest station is not to be confused (though many have!) with Trefforest Estate station, which serves Treforest Industrial Estate, neither the estate or its station are technically within Treforest.
Note for geocachers visiting by train: all local trains serve Trefforest station as little as 5-10 minutes apart but there is a 30 minute wait between trains at Trefforest Estate (true in both directions).
Note for geocachers visiting by car: please park responsibly and legally, there is plenty of restricted parking for rail users only at GZ but free and unrestricted parking can be found at the waypoint provided.
How to find the Logbook
Both the information board and the final cache are available 24 hours. To discover the location of the cache which is a short distance away, you need to find the following information from a nearby information board:
The final cache can be found at N a° b.cde W j° k.lmn where:
a=Sports Centre x Brecon
b=Mountain Halls + Hirwaun
c=Cynon
d=Amphitheatre and the Hub - Stilts Food Court - Aerospace Centre
e=Aerospace Centre
j=Brecon
k=Sports Centre + Ty Crawshay
l=Kidwelly
m=(Students Union and Shop / Cynon) - Cynon

The geocache is a 140ml box with room for small swaps and Trackables.
