The English Plantain
Der Spitzwegerich (Plantago lanceolata), auch Spießkraut, Lungenblattl oder Schlangenzunge genannt, ist eine Pflanzenart, die zur Familie der Wegerichgewächse (Plantaginaceae) gehört. Das Wort „Wegerich“ entstammt dem Althochdeutschen von wega = Weg und rih = König. Die Blütezeit reicht von Mai bis September. Der Spitzwegerich kommt häufig in Fettwiesen, in Parkrasen (dort vor allem in ihrer mageren Ausbildungsform), an Wegen und in Äckern vor.
