Geocache Description:

Rettir, or sheepfolts, can be widely found in most habitable areas of Iceland. On this location there probably is a sheepfold since the 12th century.

9.6.2017. the cache seems to been missing. we are not able to replace it this year (probably) so we will enable it. If you have visited the site and want to log as a find do please contact us first and make a picture of your gps at the coordinates.

The rounding up and gathering of sheep into the folds form highland pastures is the autum developed over the ages into an important social event.

Between Reykholt and the beautiful fosses of Halparfoss and Haifoss there is this small place which is nice to visit and have a look around. There are some signs with information about the history of sheepfolds.

There are possibilities for having lunch and there even are bathrooms.

Congrats to MaYim for FTF and to Peeminjoo for STF.
