Cache In Trash Out® is an ongoing environmental initiative supported by the worldwide geocaching community. CITO events bring geocachers together to care for the geocaching game board: planet Earth. Since 2002, geocachers around the world have been dedicated to improving parks and other cache-friendly places. CITO events are a chance for geocachers to give back to their local spaces and communities. And we have lots of fun while we're at it too!
All geocachers who attend a CITO event during International CITO Week will be awarded a new digital souvenir for display on their geocaching profiles.
Place: Alkantrand Park, Lynnwood
Date: Sunday, 18 September 2016
Time: 10.00 - 13.00
Alkantrand Park is a lovely, new and modern park next to the Lynnwood Bridge centre. Sadly, it is already being spoilt by litterbugs so let's do something about it before it gets out of hand. Once we've picked up the litter, we can all sit down and enjoy a picnic in the park together. There is a walking trail through the park for those who would like to take a pleasant stroll as well as a play park for the kids.
Please wear comfortable clothing and a hat. You might also need some gloves, a sharp stick and/or a picker-upper tool. We will supply plastic bags and organise the refuse removal.
For the picnic, please bring your own eats and drinks as well as cutlery and crockery etc. There are some braais available for use if anybody fancies some braaivleis - bring your own charcoal or wood if you want to braai. Camping chairs are recommended but a good old-fashioned picnic blanket is great too! There isn't a lot of shade as the trees are still young so please bring a gazebo or sun umbrella if you have one. We will have our gazebo there on the day.
Hope to see you there!
