One thing is for sure: Danes know how to have fun and how to use every single opportunity to enjoy themselves. The Danish summer is full of festivals, concerts, events, parties, and so on.
Among these examples is the so called Havnefest which basically means the Harbor Festival. There are so many cities in Denmark that have a harbor and therefore you can imagine there are many HavneFest all over the country.
In Mommark, during the 4 days of Harbor Festival, besides all the other fun things that happen, visitors can witness the Pælesidning Competition (pole sitting). I am proud to say that I was chosen to be one of the 4 competitors that will try to sit on a pole for 72 hours straight.
You can find the rules of the contest on Mommark Marina's website, but it is basically an endurance challenge: in order to win, one must last 3 days (72 hours) on a pole in the water. Each day you are allowed 2 bathroom breaks of max 15 minutes and you are not allowed to secure yourself to the pole (with a belt or similar object). If you fall, or you quit, you are disqualified.
I heard about this crazy contest last year and a friend told me: „Hey, I see you doing this” ... because I am crazy and stubborn 
. Yes, I am doing this because it is a perfect way to test my patience and my stubbornness, because I just think it is one of those crazy things that fits perfectly with my character.
But besides all that, I am doing this because I want to promote geocaching and cycling. I plan to use the prize money (20.000 DKK) to buget my future Geocaching Bike Trip across Europe (#GBTE2017). Yes, that is what it's all about: in July 2017 I plan to leave on bike (again) across Europe: 15 countries, over 6500 km and all the caches along the way, including some very old ones, the very rare webcam and virtual caches but also T5 climbing caches. It's going to be the trip of a lifetime and you can't even begin to imagine how enthusiastic I am about it. Very soon you will be able to read more about this journey.
Besides the prize money, I hope this contest will help me spread the word about this future trip and what I am trying to accomplish. And that is also why I made these events.
This first event marks the START of the Pole Sitting contest, on August 4, at 18:00. Since the meeting time for the contestants is 15:00 and at 17:30 we will be escorted to the poles for the competition start, I think it is best for our geocaching event to take place earlier so we can meet&greet on land.
That being said, let's meet at 14:30 at the given coordinates.
We can meet, talk a bit, then I will have to go take my ”seat”.
Since the reviewer did not allow me to publish different events for each day, this event is open for logging until the contest ends, on August 7 . Therefore It does not matter when you come here to see me, you can still attend this event and the logbook will be there for the entire time, just like me
