DE: Das Schellenursli-Dorf Guarda liegt auf einer sonnigen Südterrasse des Unterengadins auf 1653m. Sommer wie Winter führen gepflegte Wanderwege aus dem Dorf mit den wunderschön bemalten Engadinerhäusern aus der ersten Hälfte des 17. Jahrhunderts hinaus in die eindrückliche Landschaft. Mit der GPS-basierten App «Dorfrundgang Guarda» kann das Dorf auf interaktive Art und Weise entdeckt werden. An den 15 ausgewählten Stationen erfährt man mehr über Geschichte und Gegenwart, Landschaft und Natur und auch darüber, was in Guarda an Kunsthandwerk und Gastronomie geboten wird.
Auch dem Schellenursli ist ein spezieller Wanderweg gewidmet, der besonders gut für Familien geeignet ist, da er auch in Etappen gewandert werden kann. Klar, dass in Guarda die Tradition des Chalandamarz, des Winteraustreibens mit grossen Kuhglocken, gepflegt wird. Kinderskilift, Eisplatz, Schlittelweg und Langlaufloipe runden das Angebot für Familien im Winter ab.

EN:The Schellenursli Village, Guarda, is located at 1653 meters in the Lower Engadine on a south-facing sun terrace. Both in summer and winter, well groomed hiking paths lead from the village into the scenic countryside. The houses of the Engadine village have beautifully painted facades from the first half of the 17th century. The GPS-based «Guarda village tour» app is an interactive way to discover the village. 15 selected stations provide more information about the past and present, landscape and nature as well as the arts, crafts and catering on offer in Guarda.
A special path is dedicated to Schellenursli – the main character in Alois Carigiet's childrensbook first published in 1945 (book also available in English). This path is particularly suitable for families, since it can be hiked in stages. It goes without saying that in Guarda the ancient tradition of the Chalandamarz is observed. This tradition involves chasing away the winter by the clanking sound of large cow bells. A children's ski lift, iceskating rink, toboggan run and cross-country tracks round out the winter offerings for families.

Abseits der grossen Verkehrs- und Touristenströme geniesst das Schellen-Ursli-Dorf ein ruhiges Dasein an der Südflanke des Unterengadins. Mit seinen gepflegten, reich verzierten Engadiner Häusern gilt Guarda als eines der besterhaltensten Engadinerdörfer.
Guarda (1653 m ü.M.) ist hoch über der Talsohle, auf der Sonnseite des Unterengadins, in eine gewellte Wiesenlandschaft gebettet. Der Panorama-Blick schweift über die Engadiner Bergwelt. Den 190 noch mehrheitlich rätoromanisch-sprachigen Dorfbewohnern steht ein Mehrfaches an Touristenbetten gegenüber.
Einst lag das Dorf an der Engadiner Strasse, welche einen ansehnlichen Teil des Saumverkehrs zwischen Innsbruck und dem Comersee bewältigte. Seit 1862 allerdings wird der Durchgangsverkehr unten durchs Tal geführt, was Guarda zu einem Ort der Ruhe und der Erholung macht. Dieser Abgeschiedenheit verdankt Guarda wohl auch sein intaktes Dorfbild mit den zahlreichen stolzen Engadiner-Häusern, die durch ihre Sgraffiti-Malereien Berühmtheit erlangten. 1975 erhielt Guarda den renommierten Wakker-Preis für seinen vorbildlich gepflegten und früh unter Schutz gestellten Dorfkern. Längst gilt es auch als Kulturgut von nationaler Bedeutung. Mächtige Bogentüren, kleine, als Lichtfang gestaltete Fenster, neckische Erker, geschmiedete Gitter und originelle Verzierungen machen praktisch jedes Haus zu einer kulturhistorischen Entdeckung.
Durch den das eindrücklich illustrierte Buch «Schellen-Ursli» wurde Guarda weit herum bekannt.

Guarda
Far from traffic and tourist masses, the «Schellen-Ursli» fairy tale village is peacefully situated on the south side of Unterengadin. With its richly decorated and beautifully kept houses, Guarda is considered one of the best kept villages in Engadine.
Guarda (1,653 m) lies way up in the valley, nestled between rolling hills and meadows on the sunny side of the Unterengadin, proffering stunning panorama views over the Engadine mountain world. Where the 190 villagers, the majority of whom still speak Rhaeto-Romance, are pleased to provide a fair number of tourist beds.
The village once lay directly on the road to Engadine, thus absorbing much of the merchant traffic travelling between Innsbruck and Lake Como. However, already since1862 through traffic has been guided over the bottom of the valley, leaving Guarda an oasis of peace. Thanks to this Guarda has maintained its attractive village image, with numerous proud-looking Engadine houses famous for their attractive graffiti murals. In 1975 Guarda was awarded the prestigious Wakker Prize for its tidy appearance and the village centre soon stood under protection. It long counts as a heritage of national importance. Impressive arched doors, small windows just big enough to let the light through, contrasting large bay windows, decorative wrought iron and traditional adornment make practically every house a piece of cultural history worth discovering.
Guarda became famous through the beautifully illustrated book "Schellen-Ursli".
