Welcome to the June Surrey meet with a difference! This month there will be the usual pub for meeting, eating and chat but also we will be running trips to the local caves!
During the evening you will be able to visit Tunnel Road East, a series of tunnels dug under the old castle and town hall that have a varied and interesting history including wine & beer storage and use as an air raid shelter during WWII. For more information see http://www.reigatecaves.com/tunnelroad.php
In addition we will run guided tours of Barons' Cave, probably the old wine cellar for the Norman castle that once stood in Reigate. Please bring a torch for this one as there is no installed lighting. For more information see http://www.reigatecaves.com/barons.php
Parking is all around the town (see coords below) and is free after 6pm. WARNING: Do NOT use Morrisons car park as they will fine you for staying longer than 2.hours!
It's a great way to meet fellow cachers and share caching stories (or even pick up a few hints for those puzzles) over a glass or two. If you've never been to an event before you'll be made very welcome, whether you are from Surrey, or farther afield. The log the event there is no need to visit the caves but I highly suggest you do!
There will be the normal opportunity to swap and discover Travel Bugs and Geocoins.
The pub does food and they would appreciate a bit of an idea of numbers, so please can you log a 'will attend' with some indication of whether you are likely to want to eat, so we can be courteous and let them know. Please be aware that under 16s are not allowed in the pub after 8pm although they are welcome to explore the mines until late.
