Geocache Description:

Welcome to Poinsett State Park!

This park offers the same amenities as all other State Parks in South Carolina. But, this park has NO entrance fee! There are, of course small fees if you wish to rent a cabin or stay overnight in the tent camping area.

This cache is a large ammo can hidden along the Whippoorwill Trail. This trail is designated in yellow on your trail map, and is easily identified by unique yellow signs, blazes, and mile markers.

Take some time out on the trails, and look for this large, leaning tree along one of the horseshoe portions of this trail. Also keep a sharp eye out for the unique "Figure Four" tree near by! Take a moment for a photo opportunity at this unique oddity of nature!

A huge thanks goes out to Ranger Zabo and his team, without whom this cache wouldn't be possible. Ranger Zabo personally took me out on the trails to find good spots to hide caches, and wants more placed in the future.

Cache safely, as this area is home to snakes, ticks, and poisonous plants.
