TOTT – bring tweezers and a pen
Teddington railway station is located in Teddington in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, in south west London, and is in Travelcard Zone 6. The station is operated by South West Trains, as are all trains serving it.
This cache has been placed the same year as Ticket Office Manager Alan Hopwood, who’s career on the railways started in 1976, retired. Alan, who served Teddington commuters for over 34 years, has been dubbed ‘Mr Teddington’ and is recognised in the rail community and by locals for his excellent service to the community.
Back in 2010 Alan was awarded an MBE for services to public transport. Alan said: “I enjoy working at Teddington station. It is an ideal size station where I can meet with 30 to 40 “friends” every day and work with fantastic colleagues. Being honoured with an MBE is a real privilege. I am delighted to be given this honour and will continue to try my best to be helpful to our customers.”
Rail passengers and locals alike have relied on Alan’s knowledge of the local area and his route and ticketing knowledge to help them about their day, whilst still being a friendly and welcoming face to many who arrive by train.
Thanks for your service Alan!
Congratulations to cacheaccounting for the FTF.
