Fill-in Puzzles
A basic Fill-in Puzzle is a word-based game somewhat similar to a crossword puzzle. There are no clues, all the valid entries are presented in the list of words, which are sorted first by word size and then alphabetically. The goal is to fill in these known words into the crossword puzzle grid. Across and Down entries are all mixed together; find their proper places in the diagrams.

Number Fill-Ins are fill-in puzzles where instead of words, each puzzle consists entirely of numbers. Just like regular fill-ins, the entries are given to you. Solve the puzzles by filling in the diagrams with entries reading across and down as in a crossword puzzle. Here is an example of a completed simple puzzle:

And now...
In this twisted variant of the Number Fill-in puzzle, Roman numerals are used – however, in the list of number groups to be used, the spaces between numerals have conspicuously been removed, so that each string of roman numerals in the list could have more than one answer. Not only that, but for each string, the number of possible cells used is not specified.

For example, IVI could be interpreted as I VI (1,6), or IV I (4,1) or even I V I (1,5,1) and could be placed in the grid (respectively):

You have to figure out where the breaks are, and where to place the number strings in the grid to make them all fit correctly both Across and Down. Note also that each cell must contain a legitimate Roman numeral that converts to a single-digit Arabic numeral (I=1, II=2, III=3, IV=4, V=5, VI=6, VII=7, VIII=8). In the puzzle below, note that the number 9 (IX) is not used, and there are no zeroes or blank cells.

Once you’ve correctly filled the grid, replace each cell’s Roman numeral with its Arabic equivalent, and then use the highlighted cells and the equations below to determine the final coordinates.

One cell (V) has been filled in to get you started.

Enter the highlighted cell values into the formula below to determine the final coordinates. For any sum that equals ten or greater, subtract ten.

N40 05.(A+B)(C+D)(E+F)
W83 08.(G+H)(J+K)(L+M)
