The Basket (1999)
Staring Peter Coyote, Karen Allen and Robert Burke
This movie was filmed by North By Northwest with movie set locations in Downtown Spokane and at The Hutton Settlement in Spokane Valley. It is set during World War I in the small town of Spokane. A pastor adopts two German orphans and the townsfolk are suspicious of the children and of the new schoolteacher who teaches them to play basketball. In a time of pain and prejudice woven against a background of beauty, The Basket ultimately points to triumph and hope in a changing America.
