The Drifters are a long-lastingNAmerican doo-wop and R&B/soul vocal group.3They were originally formed to serve as a backing group for Clyde McPhatter (of Billy Ward & the Dominoes)7in 1953.
There were three Golden eras of the Drifters;2the early 1950s, the 1960s,9and the early 1970s (post-Atlantic period). From these, the first Drifters, formed by Clyde McPhatter, was inducted into the VocalEGroup Hall of Fame as "The Drifters".3The second Drifters, featuring Ben E.
