Geocache Description:

The M1 Pacific Motorway, also known as the F3 Freeway is a 127km stretch of road linking Sydney to the Central Coast and Newcastle, and forms part of the national corridor from Sydney to Brisbane.

The freeway passes through the Brisbane Water National Park, reaching the first major interchange on the Central Coast at Kariong.  The Freeway then continues on through rural and semi-rural areas of the Central Coast, with further interchanges at Ourimbah, Tuggerah, Warnervale and Kiar near Doyalson, before continuing on past Lake Macquarie into Newcastle.

This section of the motorway (from Somersby to Ourimbah) opened concurrently with the Kangy Angy to Wallarah Creek section, in December 1983.  The 15km section south of here (from Calga to Somersby), including the Mooney Mooney Bridge opened 3 years later in December 1986, and finally, in December 1997, theMissing link" between Ourimbah and Kangy Angy opened.

To access this cache, please DO NOT stop on the Motorway (because to do so is illegal anyway) - there is parking at the trailhead on Reeves Rd, Somersby.  This is a short detour off the freeway (exiting at Kariong or Peats Ridge Rd), and this cache should not take longer than 20min.
