This cache has been archived.

BerrySeekers3: Thanks to all the participants. The word from the Southeast Alaska Land Trust is that 2,360 lbs of refuse was picked up off the wetlands last Saturday! Nicely done! Keep you're ears open for another one in September! Cheers!

Geocache Description:

Here's another opportunity for local 'cachers to get a CITO souvenir! Prizes will be awarded for FTF, whoever brings back the most tennis balls and whoever drags back the biggest piece of trash!

Partnering with the Alaskan Brewing Company and the SE Alaska Land Trust, the geocache community can help clean up the wetlands and brighten Juneau up again after winter.
We'll meet at 8:30 a.m. for a group photo and TB trades then working until at least 9:30 a.m. (this 1 hour minimum is a new "rule" for CITOS). If you can come later, please include that in your log entry so I can look out for you as the overall event will be going on until at least 11:30. Post a "Will Attend" log so you will receive announcements about this CITO and the potential after-event as the final details come together.

Plan to meet at the given coordinates for parking, bag and glove distribution and directions. The main focus will be on picking up trash in the wetlands area between the Temsco pond and Sunny Point. This is an area with lots of water so wear your "Juneau Sneakers" and plan on a good work out! We'll walk out to the west on the wetlands ("northbound on Egan") but stage trash along Egan Drive for pick up later. There will be snacks and refreshments available at the parking area but there will be lots of walking! A day-pack might be handy to bring in order to carry snacks and beverages...it's a long way back to the parking area once you're out there. This is NOT intended to be a road-side trash pick-up...but a WETLANDS area pick-up so make sure to dress accordingly!

Word on the street is that Raz Wheat will be poured for CITO attendees and some sort of food trucks will be at the brewery later for a complimentary lunch!!! GeocacheAlaska! and Alaskan brewing have generously donated some great swag for prizes. Seriously! More to follow...
