Geocache Description:

While making my way from Stockton, CA to Dumont, CO to visit my daughters, I came across the little town of Helper, UT. Here I discovered quaint streets, old buildings and a little museum that will satisfy the mining and railroading enthusiast and others who want a glimpse of history.

In light of the events of 9/11/2001 at the World Trade Center in New York City, the words engraved on the plaque shown here in this little western town are especially meaningful.

May the miner's safety lamp burn forever to remind us of those miners who lost their lives in these coal mines....

These miners, fathers, husbands and sons paid a high price so that their families could have a future and home in this great country.
