The pirate ship Cacher sank in a storm and the crew ended up marooned on one island and pirate captain Man Uquine on another.
The islands were in sight of each other and the captain signalled to his crew to build rafts to rescue him and reunite him with his faithful crew.
Only rafts could be used to attempt the rescue. This is where you, his crew can prove your allegiance and help to rescue your captain and deliver him safely to his good friend Captain Jacaru who will give him safe passage back to a safe port.
However, bounty hunters, some in pirate attire, in canoes and kayaks are on the lookout for Capt. Man Uquine. They know of his whereabouts on the island but are forbidden, by law, to attempt to extract him.
Once he is on your raft however, they are allowed to board and take him from your grasp.
Their orders are to deliver him to Captain Wemnog who will act as jailer.
Both Captain Jacaru and Captain Wemnog have gold for whomever delivers the pirate to them.
Beware you can be shot at with water cannons from passing landlubbers who will be in the vicinity.

The event will run from Midday until 4.00pm approximately
Now for some important stuff.
The coordinates for this event are in the middle of the river trent.
Officially, you do need a licence to use a boat on the river. You will need to get a Short Term Visitor Licence. Last year this was £2.66 for the day.
I would suggest that you arrive early to sort out parking and getting your boat ready.
The river is deep in parts and it is recommended that you wear a bouyancy aid
Do watch out for other craft on the water
Everyone is welcome. Although this is a boat event, people can log an attend if they join in on the river bank, or help the pirates on the water in any way at all.
If children are going to be aboard either rafts or kayaks then please keep them safe and supervised at all times
Although not compulsory, please do try and come dressed as a pirate as it adds to the atmosphere and gives spectators something to watch.
If you are going to board another vessel, then please do so carefully to avoid any injury
If you are going to be on land, try and bring a water gun of some kind with you to shoot at the pirates. If the last two years are anything to go by, it really does add to the fun.
You are likely to get very wet, so I would advise that you have a full change of clothes with you.
We hope to provide a griddle for you to cook on, so check with us nearer the time as to whether to bring food to cook or not. This will depend on the weather.
The event will run, come rain or shine, so if the skies are dark, don't be put off.
As with the previous years we will have a motorised safety boat on the river in case anyone gets in to difficulties
We also have qualified first aiders in attendance.
If you are building a raft, then please do not assemble it until we indicate that you can do so and at the end of the event please take everything home with you, please do not leave any litter on the river bank.
