A colocação da primeira cache, com auxílio de GPS, aconteceu no dia 3 de Maio de 2000 por Dave Ulmer.
A localização foi anunciada no newsgroup "sci.geo.satellite-nav". Três dias depois tinha sido encontrada duas vezes e registada uma vez.
Mas esta história já todos conhecem...
A história que aqui vamos contar é outra!
Após a colocação da primeira cache, o Geocaching foi-se tornando bastante popular, com um significativo crescimento em todo o mundo até que a nossa região foi contemplada com a publicação da sua primeira cache.
Foi colocada no dia 19 de Abril de 2002, com o GC-ID: GC5357.
Esta cache foi criada pelo geocacher Elkman que na sua curta passagem pela nossa região, e depois de visitar alguns lugares mágicos do nosso Algarve, registou alguns pontos de interesse históricos e criou uma multi-cache.
A cache teve o seu primeiro registo feito pelo geocacher pmateus21 um mês depois da sua publicação.
Esta multi-cache ficou ativa durante 3 anos totalizando 16 founds. Foi depois arquivada por falta de manutenção no dia 24 de Outubro de 2005 pelo revisor Crow T Robot.
Hoje os administradores do grupo GeoAlgarvio decidiram criar um espelho dessa cache para não ficar esquecida no tempo!

Esta multi-cache está localizada no Algarve. Nós (um casal Alemão) escondemos a nossa primeira cache durante umas férias no Algarve.

No ponto 1 procure pelos "Azulejos" e responda à seguinte questão:
Quando é que os portugueses descobriram um país sul-americano?
a = dia - 13
b = soma dos dígitos do ano + 20
(Exemplo: Vamos pensar que descobriram este país em 21- Maio-1965. Então a solução seria a=21-13=8 e b=1+9+6+5+20=41.)

Vai encontrar-se de frente para um grande portão. Procure uma placa perto do portão e responda à seguinte questão:
Quando é que foi restaurado este edifício notável? (ano)
c = primeiro e terceiro dígito do número
(Exemplo: Se o ano fosse 1930, a solução seria c=13.)
Vire-se. Irá ver uma igreja. Dirija-se até lá e procure outra placa na entrada sul.
Qual o ano mencionado no sinal?
d = total de dígitos do número + 10
(Exemplo: Se o ano fosse 1930, a solução seria d=1+9+3+0+10=23.)

A cache está escondida no ponto 3.
Apenas para ter a certeza de que os seus cálculos estão corretos: A distância entre os pontos 1 e 2 é 10,4 km, entre os pontos 2 e 3 é 5,5 km. (Linha reta, calculada pelo meu Garmin).

The first cache placed using GPS took place on May 3, 2000 by Dave Ulmer. The location was announced in the newsgroup "sci.geo.satellite-nav". Three days later the cache was found twice and registered once.
But that's a story already known by all...
The story we will tell you here is a different one!
After the placement of the original stash, Geocaching became quite popular with significant growth around the world, until our region was rewarded with the publication of it's first cache.
It was placed on April 19, 2002 with the GC-ID: GC5357.
This cache was created by the geocacher Elkman who in his brief visit to our region, and after visiting some magical places of our Algarve, has registered some points of historical interest and created a multi-cache.
The cache was first found by the geocacher pmateus21 one month after it's publication.
This multi-cache was active for 3 years with 16 founds registered during that time. It was later archived for lack of maintenance on October 24, 2005 by reviewer Crow T Robot.
Today the administrators of GeoAlgarvio's group decided to recreate this cache so it doesn't get forgotten in time!

This multi-cache is located at the Algarve. We (a German couple) have hidden our first cache during our holidays at the Algarve.
In order to vist all the waypoints on the route to the cache, you should have a car or at least a scooter.
Start at waypoint 1:

Clues for waypoint 2:
At waypoint 1 search for the “Azulejos“ and answer the following question:

You find yourself in front of a big gate. Try to find a sign near the gate and answer the following question:
When was this remarkable building restored? (year)
c = first and third digit of the number
(Example: If the year was 1930, the solution would be c=13.)
Turn around. You will see a church. Go there and search for another sign at the south entrance.
Which year is mentioned on this sign?
d = total of the digits of the number + 10
(Example: If the year was 1930, the solution would be d=1+9+3+0+10=23.)

The cache is hidden at this waypoint 3. Update (31.08.03): Last finder has placed the cache 6 meters north from last waypoint!
Just to make sure, that your calculations were correct: The distance between waypoint 1 and 2 is 10,4 km, between waypoint 2 and 3 is 5,5 km. (Bee-line, calculated by my Garmin.)
