En 1875, le comte Paul-Ange de Guernisac décède. Par testament, il lègue à la Ville de Morlaix la somme de 320 000 francs pour construire une nouvelle salle de spectacle. L'architecte est le parisien Charpentier, tandis que la construction est confiée à la maison Diosse et Fils, de Lyon. L'inauguration du théâtre a lieu le 14 avril 1888, en compagnie de la Comédie française.
Fermé en 1996 pour cause de vétusté, ce théâtre à l'italienne a été entièrement restauré. Il a été classé Monument Historique en 1998, la Commission Supérieure des MH considérant que "la conservation du Théâtre Municipal de Morlaix présente, du point de vue de l'histoire et de l'art, un intérêt public, en raison de son caractère d'exemple typique des théâtres à l'italienne de la IIIème République, l'un des rares à avoir conservé son aspect intérieur et ses dispositions et mécanismes d'origine". La restauration a pris en compte les nécessaires aménagements pour pouvoir en faire un lieu de diffusion du spectacle vivant contemporain. Il a donc conservé son aspect d'origine avec ses balcons en corbeille.
La jauge de la salle est de 415 places et la surface du plateau de 180 m².
Le théâtre du Pays de Morlaix propose une programmation régulière mais accueille aussi de nombreuses compagnies dramatiques en résidence de création.

T as Theater
In 1875, count Paul-angel of Guernisac dies. By will, he bequeaths to the City of Morlaix the 320 000-franc sum to build a new theater. The architect is Parisian Carpenter, whereas the construction is confided at home and Son, of Lyon. The inauguration of the theater takes place on April 14th, 1888, together with the French Comedy.
Closed in 1996 because of dilapidation, this Italian-style theater was completely restored. He was classified as "Historic Monument" in 1998, the Superior Commission of the MH considering that "the preservation of the Municipal theater of Morlaix presents, from the point of view of the history and from the point of view of art, a public interest, because of its character of typical example of the Italian-style theaters of the IIIth Republic, one of the rare to have kept its internal aspect and its capacities and mechanisms of origin". T wie Theater
1875 stirbt der Graf Paul-Engel de Guernisac. Testamentarisch läßt er in der Stadt von Morlaix die Summe im Wert von 320 000 Franc hinter, um einen neuen Theatersaal zu bauen. Der Architekt ist Pariser(pariserisch) Zimmermann, während der Bau zu Hause und Sohn(Faden), Lyons anvertraut ist. Die Eröffnung des Theaters findet am 14. April 1888, in Begleitung der französischen Komödie statt.
Diese 1996 wegen vétusté geschlossene Theater in der Italienischen ist völlig restauriert gewesen. Er ist historisches Monument 1998, die Höhere Kommission für den MH geordnet gewesen, die findet, daß " die Erhaltung des Stadttheaters von Morlaix, mit dem Blickpunkt der Geschichte und der Kunst, ein Gemeinwohl, auf Grund ihres Charakters von Beispiel, der für Theater in der Italienischen III. Republik typisch ist, einen einen der Seltenen vorstellt, ihren Innenanblick(Innengesichtspunkt) und ihre Verfügungen und die Ursprungsmechanismen bewahrt zu haben ".
