Dlouhý popis:
Den 8. ledna 2002 se stal pro brněnské hasiče černým smutným dnem. Ve večerních hodinách byl na ohlašovnu Hasičského Záchranného Sboru Jihomoravského kraje ohlášen požár objektu herny a kasina CARE na Nádražní ulici č. 2. Na místo okamžitě vyjela jednotka pod vedením velitele družstva npor. Davida Kožuského, který nařídil, dle získaných informací na místě, provést průzkum se snahou nalézt v hořícím objektu pohřešovanou osobu. Do své skupiny zařadil stržm. Jaroslava Gargulu a vydali se na průzkum. V objektu však během jejich pobytu zde došlo k nenadálému vzplanutí plynů a k následnému usmrcení obou záchranců i hledané osoby. Brněnští hasiči tak přišli nejenom o výborné kamarády, ale jejich rodiny i o starostlivé manžele a u Davida K. i o trojnásobného tátu.
Za svou statečnost, prokázanou při zásahu, byli oba příslušníci HZS Jmk Brno vyznamenáni ministrem vnitra medailí "Za statečnost". Nadpor. David Kožuský byl mimořádně povýšen do hodnosti kapitán in memoriam, nadstrážmistr Jaroslav Gargula byl mimořádně povýšen do hodnosti poručík in memoriam. Žel, do dnešních dnů nebylo zjištěno čí to byla vina či jaká byla příčina vzniku požáru a tím i smrti těchto dvou mužů.
Po více než deseti letech se pak oba hrdinové dočkali i důstojného památníku, který se nachází v přízemí obchodního centra Letmo. Možná jste již mnohokrát procházeli kolem, ale jak to bývá, bez povšimnutí. Tak tedy tentokrát se zastavte! Vzdejte chviličkou času poctu oběma hrdinům a prohlédněte si jejich neobvyklý pomník.
Soutěž na památník byla vypsána pro atelier sochařství Fakulty výtvarných umění a vítězným se stal návrh studenta A.K., který jako symbol piety zvolil hranol, do nějž otiskl dvě figury zesnulých hasičů v životní velikosti metodou negativního otisku. I když je toto dílo figurální, právě onen negativní princip odkazuje na ztrátu a je tak skutečnou pietou za zemřelé hasiče.
Long description:
Day of January 8th, 2002 became for the firefighters of Brno "black sad" day. After more than ten years, these two heroes get a dignified monument, which is located on the ground floor of shopping center "Letmo". Unfortunately, to this day has not been found whose fault or what was the cause of the fire and thus the death of the two men.
The competition for the Memorial was announced for the Studio of sculpture at Faculty of fine arts. As a winner of competition was the design of the student A.K., which as a symbol chose the prism, which squeeze out two of the deceased firefighters in the "natural" size by a method of negative impression. Regardless of fact, that this work is figurative, the negative principle refers to the loss and is so real piety for the dead firefighters.
