Het is pas in de XVIIde eeuw dat het domein zijn huidige vorm kreeg, toen het werd betrokken door de Blootvoetse Karmelieten van Leuven die het hadden gekocht om er een "heilige Woestenij" van te maken, een plaats van gebed en afzondering, van bezinning, van stille overpeinzing, weg van de bewoonde wereld.

C'est pas avant le XVIIe siècle que le domaine a été donné sa forme actuelle, quand il était le Blootvoetse Carmélites de Louvain en question qui avait acheté pour créer un "Wasteland sainte", pour créer un lieu de prière et de solitude, de réflexion, de la contemplation tranquille, loin de la civilisation.

It was not until the seventeenth century that the domain was given its present form when it was the Blootvoetse Carmelites of Louvain. They bought it to create a "holy Wasteland" to have a place of prayer and solitude, reflection, of quiet contemplation, away from civilization.
