Geocache Description:

This cache is hidden near the Macy Memorial located in Irvington Woods. The Macy Memorial is located about 150 north of this cache (I would have placed this cache at the memorial but there is a cache 450 feet away). After finding this cache, please check out the Macy Memorial (I have attached a waypoint since the spur trail leading to the memorial is overgrown). The plaque on the rock reads:

V. Everit Macy was a great citizen of Westchester County. He gave generously not only of his wealth, but of himself. His Countless private benefactions and deeds of kindness were never heralded, but his constructive achievement as Superintendent of the Poor, Commissioner of Public Welfare, and President of the Westchester County Park Commission were widely known. In recognition of these services this park had been named for him and this tablet erected by his friends. MDCCCLXXI MCMXXX

Please check out the Related Webpage link for more history on V.E. Macy Park. Also, the four "gateposts" mentioned in the article, two of them are located on either side of the Saw Mill near where Cyrus Field Road meets the Saw Mill.

While this caches may seem close to the Saw Mill Parkway, please do not attempt it as not only is it dangerous, it is illegal as well.
