Geocache Description:

The location where one of Australia’s early aviation heroes met an untimely end is the starting point for maccamob’s sixth cache. Find the memorial to the event at the terminal (published coordinates) and gather the following details so you can prepare your flight plan for the next leg of your journey:

Date of the tragedy (dd mm yyyy format) = ab ce fghi

Date of the competition which made our hero famous = jknp

On what day in September was he born = qr

His age when he died = st

Find the spelling mistake in the second paragraph (ie the top one in the second column). What number in the alphabet is the incorrect letter? = uv

In what year did Jimmy’s mother die? = wxyz

The cache is housed in its own hangar, just a few metres off the taxiway that begins at the terminal, at the coordinates:

S37° ps.r(s+t)z E144° nn.b(v-u)(y+h).

Just substitute the appropriate numbers for the letters. You may need to be stealthy when recovering and replacing the cache to avoid observation. You are looking for a 400ml Sistema with appropriate camo.

Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
Of sun-split clouds and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of - wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there,
I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air.
Up, up, up the long, delirious burning blue
I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace
Where never Lark, or even Eagle flew -
And while with silent lifting mind, I've trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand and touched the face of God.

- John Gillespie Magee, Jr, 1922-1944
