The rail line between Canberra & Cooma was closed to passenger trains in September 1988 after the bridge over Numeralla Creek was deemed unsafe, freight services along this line ceased in May 1989.
The 49km section between Queanbeyan and Michelago was reopened in April 1993 for heritage tourist operation however this was suspended in the beginning of 2007 due to storm damage.
The rail had stops in Royalla, Williamsdale, Michelago, Colinton, Bredbo, Billilingra, Chakola, Bunyan and Cooma, with bridges crossing Ingalara Creek, Bredbo & Numeralla Rivers and a tunnel under the hill at Colinton.
There is parking right near this cache, however it is close to a road that can occasionally have a car pass by so we recommend that you watch the Geokiddies
If you drive to the end of the road near this cache (over the small bridge) you can easily walk to ”The Forgotten Series – Forgotten Tunnel II - Michelago”
