Everybody knows Geocachers love to eat! Turns out, some of them are pretty darn good cooks too! Time once again for the GGA Chili Cook-off!
Saturday February 13th, 2016 (1 - 3 PM)
Indian Springs State Park, Group Shelter
Ed 'Rebel' Handler started this great tradition back in 2006 and it has become one of Georgia Geocachers Association's most (in)famous and beloved regular events! Join your fellow geocachers from around the state for GGA's 10th annual Chili Cook-off!
Bring an appetite and be prepared to vote for your favorite chili!
Two kinds of chili will be judged:
- TRADITIONAL CHILI (i.e. red, tomato-based, etc.)
- ALTERNATIVE/NON-TRADITIONAL CHILI (i.e. white, verde, etc.)
You do not need to bring chili to attend, but the more the merrier! (And the prizes are amazing!)
Bring a pot of your favorite chili to share, along with any edible accessories that you like to add to your bowl! (cheese, crackers, etc). If you choose to compete, your chili should be ready to eat by 1:30 pm. PLEASE BRING A CHILI SERVING UTENSIL. Electrical outlets will be available for chili pots, but we ask that you please bring an extension cord or power bar. There is a full kitchen with refrigerators available at the (enclosed!) group shelter. Bowls, eating utensils, will be provided by GGA. Please be prepared to list ingredients, for the safety of those with specific food allergies (peanuts, onions, MSG, shellfish, etc).
Bring a creative and festive table display too -- there are prizes for that also!
Be prepared for other competitions and activities throughout the event as well -- check back to this page often !!
Please indicate in your 'Will Attend' if you plan to bring chili !!
Administrative details: There is a $5 daily parking fee at Indian Springs State Park, unless you are already a member of the Friends of Georgia State Parks. Ample parking at the Group Shelter, near the boat ramp.
