Geocache Description:

A straightforward offset multi based upon the Church at St Cleer.


The Church

The Church at St Cleer is dedicated to St Clarus, an English missionary who was martyred near the River Epte in Normandy in 894.
First built in 800 but rebuilt in the 13th century, the tower suffered damage and was repaired in the 15th century It comprises a chancel, nave, and north and south aisles. The north arcade has large segmental arches supported by octagonal pillars with plain caps. The south has similar arches supported by clustered columns with richly sculptured capitals.
The font is of early English character with some Norman features. There is a south porch, a chancel door and a good early Norman doorway on the north side, ornamented on the outside with a zig-zag moulding.
The tower is one of the handsomest granite structures in the county; it is 97 feet high, of three stages and buttressed on the square. It contains six bells. The church underwent a major reconstruction during the early part of the 19th century.  

Within a radius of a couple of miles there are some exceptional ancient monuments:

The Cache

The headline coordinates will take you to just outside the porch entrance to the church on its south side.

You are looking for the last grave on the right befoe you reach the porch. It is dedicated to the memory of Mary and Richard Rowe.

The cache can be found a short walk away at N 50 BC.(G-G)CB W 004 BE.A(D+B)(F+A+A+B)

The cache is a micro tube with just a log inside - no room for TBs. 

It is a ground level tucked into the grass.

There are footpaths nearby which are popular with dog walkers and horse riders so please exercise stealth when retrieving the cache.
