Don't miss it, or you'll have to wait another four years!
The 366th Day!
What are Leap Years and Leap Days? Although most modern calendar years have 365 days, a complete revolution of the Earth around the Sun (one Solar Year) takes approximately 365 days and 6 hours. An extra 24 hours accumulates every four years, requiring that an extra calendar day be added to align the calendar with the Sun's apparent position. Without the added day, the seasons would move back in the calendar. So in every fourth year (...2008, 2012, 2016, 2020…) February has a 29th day, and the year has a 366th day!
The 29th of February, Leap Day, is a special day for geocachers. It's an opportunity that only comes once every four years: Logging a geocache fills the 29th February square in the calendar grid on your statistics page, which is great for us completists, and can help you qualify for a bunch of challenge caches!
Leap Day is also special for me personally. I was born on the 29th February, so I only get a birthday every four years. This will be my 10th birthday!
I thought I would host an event, to meet up and celebrate with everyone, and to give people a chance to attend an event on this special day.
I will be arriving at the pub at about 4pm, and staying until at least 9pm.

Profile Souvenirs!
As I had hoped, there will be a profile souvenir for this special day. In fact, there will be two!
Here is the announcement:
"This next year holds some extra special delight. There will be 366 days, which means we all get one extra day of geocaching. So of course, we're celebrating with a souvenir - actually, make that two!
The first souvenir can only be earned on Leap Day itself - February 29th - by attending a geocaching event. The other souvenir can be earned all weekend long (February 27th to 29th) by getting outside and finding a geocache. (Hint: You'll want to earn both of these...)"

Exclusive Geocoin!
Something special for this special occasion: I will have a special event geocoin to mark this special day, that I will be selling at the event: the "366 Leap Into Caching" Frog Geocoin. I will update here when I have more information or a picture.
UPDATE: Please note (because a couple of people have asked) that these coins ARE NOT part of the Oakcoins/Geoswag Leap Year Multi-Event Project. There will be no others of this kind in the UK (and very few Worldwide).

IMPORTANT UPDATE:
I'm sorry, but there's been an unfortunate delay. I've been let down by the factory that's making the Frog coins. I've been getting updates that the coins were being made and everything was fine, and then this week was told there was something wrong with them and they have to be remade. I'm still getting them, but I won't have them in time for the Feb 29 event. I won't be getting them until a week or so into March. Anyone who attends the event abd pre-ordered one will be able to pick them up later, and will get priority over people who were not at the event. I attend a lot of events in Central London and can bring the along to one in March for you, or meet you somewhere. All I can do is apologise.

The next event I will be hosting in London is "GC6BWHW Countdown to Estonia!" on Sunday 3rd April 2016 and I can bring the Leap Frogs there for people, or meet sometime in London or at other events.
