Geocache Description:

St Peter's Barge - London's Only Floating Church

This is a short multi cache taking you to St Peter's Barge which is London's only floating Church. There are approximately 93,000 workers/residents in the Canary Wharf area, and before this barge was brought into (religious) service there were minimal local worship opportunities.

You do not need a boat to reach the church or the cache!!

The published co-ordinates take you to the Barge. The final is about a 5 minute walk away. The container is a small magnetisiced plastic tub, with a log sheet and room for small swaps/geocoins. There is an FTF badge for the first to find. Please bring your own pen.

St Peter's Barge is a floating Church providing various services and talks both during the week and on Sundays. Please see their website here for service and opening times. The barge is a Dutch freight barge that was bought in 2003 by St Peter's Canary Wharf Trust. After being refitted in the Netherlands, it was sailed across the North Sea under its own power, and is now permanently moored on West India Quay just 5 minutes walk from One Canada Square.

To find the cache, head to the published co-ordinates. There are two lamposts by the boat, one to the left and one to the right. Both have a code on them consisting of 4 letters and 2 digits. Note the 4 letters on either of the lamposts (they are the same on both - ignore the digits) and convert these letters into numbers in the usual way (A=1, B=2 .... Z=26).

1st letter =

2nd letter =

3rdletter =

4th letter =

The final can be found at :

N51 30.(3rd letter - 2nd letter - 1st letter) (1st + 2nd - 4th) (3rd - 4th)

W000 01.(2nd) (4th - 1st) (3rd - 1st)

Checksum of all digits (both given and calculated) should equal 38

FTF congratulations to Debs54

Wheelcair Access - the Canary Wharf area is wheelchair friendly with lifts and ramps allowing access to all areas. The approach to St Peter's Barge along the dockside is flat, however some of the block paving near the barge is uneven so it may be a little bumpy. The rest of the route from St Peter's Barge to the final is along smooth paving stones. If in any doubt about the paving, you can have a look at it in the photo in the gallery
