Thunder, Thunder, Thunder...ThunderCats - HO! Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

mobywv: Couple of stages have gone missing on multiple occasions now, and it's honestly not worth replacing. Honestly, this cache was never up to the standard I set for myself when it comes to a multi-cache. I just felt like I needed to get a cache hide out for the year and sort of rushed this one out.

Indeed, the terrain was flat and boring and stages fairly lackluster. While I'm glad some folks liked it and appreciated the award nomination , I'd like to think I'm capable of much better. If you haven't done so, check out my Lost Creek and Grayskull Multis for what I believe is a much more enjoyable/challenging experience. As for Thundercats, it may make another appearance down the road if I can find more suitable/fun terrain to work with. Happy caching - HO!

Geocache Description:

Hello! I've discovered the legendary Sword of Omens, sword of the Thundercats, and gained its power! But, since I'm a nice guy, I figured I'd let other worthy cachers also gain its power! So I set up a lil' multicache that must be completed to find the sword. The sword itself gets its power from The Eye of Thundera that is embedded in the hilt. The eye contains an all-seeing, all-powerful, galactic energy force that is sentient in nature. Find the sword, awaken the eye, & gain its power!

This is a five stage multicache. At the end of the multicache, you will find the cache container and, of course, the Sword of Omens. You cannot keep the sword, but you can gain its legendary power by holding it in the air, swinging it around, and saying, "Thunder, Thunder, Thunder...ThunderCats - HO!" Click here to watch Lion-O demonstrate the proper technique.

The trail for this multicache is almost all flat and easy to follow. The round trip distance is two miles. You will need to do a little bushwhacking to get to a couple of the stages, but nothing bad. I've rated the terrain three stars simply because of a couple minor terrain challenges. The challenges "should" be doable for most teens and adults. Indeed, if 2 & 3/4 stars was a terrain option, I would have chosen that instead.

This cache was created with kids in mind, young and old. While little kids may not be able to find/retrieve every stage, I still think they'll have a good time. Indeed, you got flat terrain, interesting stages, a big ammo can full of goodies, and victorious sword selfie opportunities! Who could ask for anything more?!?! :p But in all seriousness, I think this is a kid friendly caching experience, and I do think they will enjoy tagging along, unless they really hate going in the woods. Ya know, sorta like my nieces. ;)

I've gone ahead and marked the recommended trailhead on the map. The trail is part of Andrew Leitch park and has improved vastly over the last couple years. A large sign clearly marks the park trail. You cannot miss it. While you make also approach this cache from the Waterpark area trail entrance, you'll end up doing a bit more back and forth walking that way. Remember that NO NIGHT CACHING IS ALLOWED in PWCPs. So please don't do it!

Once you have found the sword and gained its power, you may but are not required to submit a picture or video of your glorious moment. I will gladly post pictures on the cache page to celebrate your achievement. Again, this is not required, but the option is there. ;)

THE FTF prize for this multicache is a really cool Thundercats logo keychain! Seriously, I want one for myself! Hints will be posted after the FTF, but no hints will be given out before then.

Finally, please DON'T take the sword home with you. Leave it by the cache so others may also experience the power of Thundera, too! Thank you and good luck finding the sword! Ho!!!

**Permission was obtained from the PWCPA to place this cache**

Congratulations to hooclass2002 for FTF!

In addition to hooclass2002, the following brave adventures have been able to find the sword, gain its power, and uploaded pictures of their conquests! Ho!

The links below are to a couple cool ThunderCat clips and musical themes from back in the day. Back then cartoons were way cooler and often taught life lessons. This show also had fantastic music! While you do not need to watch or listen to these clips in order to find this cache, I'd highly recommend it if you were a fan of the show growing up. Happy caching! Ho!!!!
