Geocache Description:

Zebulon Pike, credited with "finding" Pike's Peak, never actually made it to the top, and in fact, predicted that no one ever would. (As of 06/17/2017, this cache is 15 years old).

Of course, now you can drive to the top. The difficulty and terrain ratings are as they are simply because you need to be careful when you do go up the peak, drive carefully, and drink water as you go. It is at an altitude of 14,110 feet so you are at risk of altitude sickness.

The plaques have been moved to a new location after the construction was almost complete. The new coordinates are N 38*50'24" W 105*02'33". As you face the new front entrance of the new visitors center, the plaques will be to your left along the sidewalk. You'll be faced with a huge bronze plaque (bigger than you). To claim the find simply post a photo of yourself and your GPS in front of the plaque. Please don't use an old vacation photo or something, make it a new one in the spirit of Geocaching.
