It's a hunt! Locals may know where to find these plaques, but they're all in public places, available 24/7 and shouldn't be too hard to locate. In no special order, you're looking for (some of the harder-to-find plaques have alternatives to make life easier for you):
- A Franciscan or Grey Friars Friarage stood here from 13A6 to 1536. It was founded by James Botelier third Earl of Ormonde.
- Site of Aylesbury Cattle Market 192X-198Y (X+Y=A)
- This Water Pump... ...Environmental Week May 19B0
- Site of Aylesbury Gaol 1740-1849 Designed by Thomas Hill the building cost £B000 to construct. The entrance was in Market Square through what is now a window in the Court building.
- The Bulls Head Coaching Inn stood here from 14C0 to 1968
- Site of the Renowmed coaching inn The White Heart 1870-18D4
- Ronnie Barker OBE first trod the boards on 15 Nov 194E at The Market Theatre, which once stood at the top of this passage.
- In 19F3 demolition of a Tudor building on this site exposed an infilled ditch 9 feet deep which once formed part of the towns defences.
- 13-19 Buckingham Street - An archaeological excavation here in 19F9 revealed a small Romano-British settlement of the first/second century AD/ The Roman road Akeman Street passed nearby.
- On this site once stood Dell's brewery, suppliers to the town of water and beer. It was demolished to make way for Public Swimming and Private Slipper Baths which stood here between 1895 and 196G.
- Bourbon Street formerly known as Waterhouse Street. It was renamed in 1H14 in honour of Louis XVIII of France who spent his exhiled years at nearby Hartwell House.
