DE - Zur Umgebung:
Wo einstmals Mosellaner Weinhändler vornehm logierten, befindet sich heute ein denkmalgeschütztes Gebäudeensemble an der Mosel mit herrlichem Blick auf den Fluss, den Cusanus-Stift und die Burgruine Landshut.
Erbaut um 1850 im Stil eines französischen Stadtpalais, einzigartig an der Mosel, spiegelt das Haus an der vornehmen Adresse Gestade vor der Altstadt von Bernkastel Wohlstand und Weltläufigkeit der Weinhändler in der wilhelminischen Kaiserzeit wieder.
Seit der Weltwirtschaftskrise in den 1920er Jahren verfiel die Bausubstanz des Gebäudes zusehens, bis das Haus nach dem Erwerb durch das Weinhandelshaus Peter Mertes und einer umfangreichen Sanierung im Jahre 2010 als Repräsentanz moselländischen Weinbaus und Weinhandels wieder eröffnet werden konnte. Die Räumlichkeiten der Bel Etage sind für Veranstaltungen buchbar, während sich im - wegen des Flusshochwassers - erhöht gelegenen untersten Stockwerk gleich über den alten Weinkellern heute ein Café befindet.
Zum Cache:
Gesucht wird ein Dose in der Größe Small mit Platz für (kleinere) Trackables und Coins. Logbuch und Stift (!) bitte drinlassen. (Gut gemeinter Rat: Bitte einen eigenen Stift bereithalten, weil der im Cache hin und wieder Beine zu bekommen scheint...) Und wieder so verstecken, dass auch der nächste Cacher noch Spaß am Suchen hat. Es versteht sich hoffentlich von selbst, dass die Natur unberührt bleiben soll; bitte nicht die Weinreben stören. Danke.

Once upon a time there were wine merchants of the Mosella area lodging very elegantly in this nowadays listed historic building complex at the river side with its fantastic view at the river, the Cusanus-Stift and the caste ruin Landshut.
Built around 1850 in the style of a French city palais - unique at the Mosella - the house at the prestigeous address Gestade at the rim of Bernkastel's town centre mirrors wealth and urbanity of wine merchants in the Wilhelmine Empire.
Since the world economy crisis ofthe 1920s, the building stock went increasingly to reck until the house was purchased by wine merchant house Peter Mertes. After extensive renovation, the building was re-opened in 2010 as representative of winegrowing and wine trade of the Mosella area. (Source: website of the Stadtpalais)
The rooms in the Bel Etage can be booked for events, while the ground floor is (due to high flood of the river) high above street level and the old wine cellars; today it houses a café.
About the Cache:
You are looking for a small box with some room for (smaller) Trackables and Coins. Logbook and pen (!) stay in the cache, please. (Friendly advice: Bring your own pen as the one in the cache seems to get lost from time to time.) And be so kind as to hide after logging in a way that the next cacher has fun hunting for it, too. It should be clear that geocaching is not destroying nature; so please leave the wine plants in peace. Thank you.
