Geocache Description:

SATURDAY 16TH OCTOBER 2015 11.30AM PICKERING

Please turn on the wireless by "clicking" on this wireless icon.. there might be a small pause whilst the set warms up please be patient. Mr. Chamberlin is making an important announcement

Please come in 1940's clothing if you can and get into the "swing" of the weekend.

BE Air Raid Aware at all times....always carry YOUR GAS MASK. Click on the bus to know what to listen out for..your very life might depend on it!

Between 7th September 1940 and 21sty May 1941 there were major aerial raids (attacks in which more than 100 tonnes of high explosives were dropped) on 16 British cities. Over a period of 267 days (almost 37 weeks), London was attacked 71 times, Birmingham, Liverpool and Plymouth eight times, Bristol six, Glasgow five, Southampton four, Portsmouth and Hull three, and there was also at least one large raid on another eight cities.

The rules simple and are as follows:

1) Get there early and act inconspicuously like a muggle before the event starts. Make sure you dress in 1940's clothing or you'll stand out like a sore thumb. We wouldn’t want the Home Guard to turn out! Please try to avoid congregating in big groups, just hang around at a distance, but somewhere that you can see GZ from. There’s plenty of places to hide!! Try not to discuss anything remember “Careless Talk Cost lives”.

2) At the stroke of 11.30AM an Air Raid whistle will be blown and we will approach the GZ dressed in 1940's clothing, waving Union Jacks this is the cue for the flash mob to begin!!

3) Please bring a ration card with your geocaching name on and place it in our War Time Wicker basket, (you won't miss it!) this will be the log book and proof of your attendance, as there will not be time to sign a traditional log. (You can also bring Trackables to drop in the basket to swap)

4. Bring some spare shillings too we hear there might be a gentleman who can supply some rare and sort after items (from ladies stockings to extra coupons -ssh don't tell anyone, it’s our secret).

5. At 11.45am Chocolate will be distributed to the children. We'd like to thank our friends at USAAF 425th Night Fighter Squadron, IXth USAAF RAF Scorton for supplying the chocolate (or candy as they call it).

4) A picture will be taken at 12.01PM we will leave without a trace, leaving the 1940's muggles wondering what on earth just happened!!

We all know careless talk cost lives so the Train Timetable will be published closer to the event
