Furado Traditional Geocache

Quando era criança, um dos elementos do grupo quando vivia no Sitio do Pinheirinho muitas vezes servia de guia a turistas perdidos na zona pois procuravam as entradas das veredas de acesso a esta levada pois na altura a falta de informação e de GPS assim o determinava. 

Decidido desde o inicio da criação deste grupo que pretendíamos presentear os geocachers com locais de algum interesse e de relevância na infância e actualmente dos membros do Team Levanta Mortos e assim decidimos dar a conhecer mais um local.

Esta cache é igualmente uma pequena homenagem aos trabalhadores da Madeira antiga que muito sofreram ao construir estes percursos de água ao qual chamamos de levadas e os túneis mas que teimamos em chamar de furados mas que foram e continuam a ser importantes para toda a população da Ilha.

O percurso desta levada desde a Camacha até ao Monte tem cerca de 14Km, requer algum cuidado e lanterna pois o “furado” que atravessa todo o Sitio do Pinheirinho demora cerca de 10m a percorrer.

In the childhood, one of the group members while living in Sitio do Pinheirinho often helped lost tourist serving as a guide in the area since the lack of informations got them lost and so were the children that held, guiding them to the beginning of the paths so they could continue their way. We could say that the Children were the GPS of modern times.

Decided from the beginning of the creation of this group that we wanted to give the geocachers some places of interest and with relevance in our childhood and currently  from the members of Team Levanta Mortos and so we decided to present you with another place.

This cache is also a small tribute to the workers of the old Madeira Island that much suffered building these water courses which we call Levadas and tunnels that local residents insist on calling 'Furados' and that were and remain important for the entire population of the island .

The entire course of this Levada from Camacha to Monte has about 14Km, requires some care and flashlight as the 'Furado' that runs through the Sitio do Pinheirinho takes about 10m to go.

A cache situa-se no inicio de um dos lados do “furado”  mas para quem não quer percorrer todo o percurso pode deslocar-se ao Sitio do Pinheirinho e percorrer uma pequena parte da vereda até ao inicio do furado e aí encontrar a cache. Encontrada a cache fica a critério dos geocachers voltar para trás pelo mesmo caminho ou aventurar-se a atravessar o furado e logo após o final do mesmo, pode subir pela vereda a direita saindo do outro lado do Sitio pela Vereda do Ti Farelo.

The cache is located at the beginning of one side of the 'Furado' but for those who do not want to go all the way you can go to Sitio do Pinheirinho and make only a small part of the path to the beginning of the 'Furado' and then find the cache. Cache found it is up to the geocachers go back the same way or cross the 'Furado' and just after the end of it take the path at your right side and climb out the other side of the Sitio do Pinheirinho exiting through Vereda do Ti Farelo.
