Esta geocache permitirá uma experiencia de Geocaching diferente daquela a que estás normalmente habituado. Como todos nós sabemos, normalmente, no Geocaching, a primeira etapa é chegar à localização final e só depois encontrar o container. Porém, a Reverse Geocache - inventada por Mikal Hart - inverte os papeis. Nesta Geocache, a primeira etapa é encontrar o container e só depois a localização final dado que o container só poderá ser aberto aí. Por outras palavras, o container não se encontra na localização final pelo que a sua abertura apenas acontecerá num lugar específico. Para conseguires completar com sucesso esta cache, após teres o container nas mãos, será possível consultar a distância entre ti e a localização final um número limitado de vezes. Este conceito foi adaptado várias vezes por pessoas que pretendiam pedir em casamento o(a) seu(ua) parceiro(a) colocando, para este efeito, o anel de noivado dentro da Reverse Geocache obrigando, desta forma, o casal a se deslocar por vários lugares distantes. Ao fim de múltiplas centenas de quilómetros percorridos, a caixa abria-se revelando o anel.
Mas como é que uma Reverse Geocache se relaciona com uma Wherigo?
As Reverse Geocaches mais conhecidas são caixas equipadas com um recetor GPS e uma placa de circuitos que controlará a abertura da caixa na devida localização. Estas caches, por serem mais dispendiosas e requererem uma manutenção e um cuidado especial, são, regra geral, apenas utilizadas em Lab Caches ou então em situações não relacionadas com o Geocaching como é o caso do exemplo dado anteriormente. Por estes motivos, recorrendo à programação de um cartucho Wherigo, é possível obter praticamente o mesmo efeito que o destas caixas, tornando, assim, acessível a um maior número de Geocachers este conceito diferente e original. Todas as indicações pormenorizadas de como jogar estão incluidas no cartucho, apenas é necessário segui-las passo a passo.

This geocache will enable a different Geocaching experience from the one you are normally used to. Usually in Geocaching the first step is to reach the final location and then find the container. However, the Reverse Geocache - invented by Mikal Hart - reverses the roles. In this Geocache, the first step is to find the container and then the final location since the container can only be opened there. In other words, the container is not placed in the final location and it can only be opened in a specific place. To be able to successfully complete this cache after you have the container, you can check the distance between you and the final location a limited ammount of times. This concept has been adapted several times by people who wanted to do a marriage proposal by putting the engagement ring inside the Reverse Geocache and thus forcing the couple to move to various distant places. After multiple hundreds of kilometers, the box would open up revealing the ring inside.
But how does a Reverse Geocache relate to a Wherigo?
Most of the Reverse Geocaches are little boxes equipped with a GPS receiver and a circuit board which will allow the box to open when the exact location is reached. Since this kinds of boxes are expensive and require maintenance and special care, they are usually only used in Lab Caches or in situations not related to Geocaching similar to the example given above. For these reasons, by using a Wherigo cartridge it's possible to obtain almost the same effect as these boxes thus making passible the access to this unique concept to a larger number of Geocachers.
