Con i suoi 1253 metri di altezza, Monte Scuderi è una delle cime più alte di tutta la catena dei Peloritani. La Riserva ricade nei comuni di Fiumedinisi, Itala e Alì. Sono ancora visibili lungo le sue pendici le “neviere” che venivano utilizzate per conservare la neve fin nei mesi estivi quando questa veniva portata a valle e utilizzata come ghiaccio. Una leggenda, nota come “a truvatura” e che si tramanda da secoli, narra che in una grotta sotto la vetta vi sia nascosto un tesoro!
Per raggiungere la cache dall'autostrada Catania-Messina prendere l'uscita Roccalumera e proseguire in direzione Fiumedinisi. All’ingresso del paese imboccare sulla destra la strada nuova e proseguire in direzione Monte Scuderi costeggiando il fiume.
IMPORTANTE: la cache è posizionata vicino a una fontana molto frequentata dalle persone del posto per rifornirsi di acqua. Si richiede massima discrezione nel cercare la cache.
Monte Scuderi has an altitude of 1253 metres and it is one the highest peaks of the Peloritani Mountains. The Reserve belongs to the territories of Fiumedinisi, Itala and Alì. Along the slopes of Monte Scuderi you can still see the "neviere", the glaciers used to conserve snow till the summer, when it was taken down in the villages and used as ice. An old legend tells that in a cave below the top f the mountain there is a hidden treasure!
To reach the cache take the motorway Catania-Messina and take the exit Roccalumera and then follow the direction to Fiumedinisi. At the entrance of the village take the new road on the right and go on along the river in direction to Monte Scuderi.
NOTICE: the cache is near a fountain where many locals go to take the water. Be very stealthy during the search.
