It's a great way to meet fellow cachers and share caching stories (or even pick up a few hints for those puzzles) over a glass or two. If you've never been to an event before you'll be made very welcome, whether you are from Surrey, or farther afield. There will be the normal opportunity to swap and discover Travel Bugs and Geocoins.
I aim to have Caching Tech Clinic at the event where experienced cachers bring their tech and answer questions the use of various apps, websites, phone handsets, GPSr units and tools (GSAK especially).
I shall be bringing a couple of laptops, Apple and Android phones and tablets, my GSAK database and a Garmin GPSmap 62s. The main thing I will not be able to be helpful with is c:geo for android - I've never used it and am unlikely to before the evening. If anyone else would like to bring stuff along please list what you'd be willing to answer questions about and those with questions, please bring them along.
I'm looking at it being quite informal and certainly not taking up any individual's full evening but would love to see an information exchange which could be built upon for future events.
The pub does food and they would appreciate a bit of an idea of numbers, so please can you log a 'will attend' with some indication of whether you are likely to want to eat, so we can be courteous and let them know. Children are welcome and Wi-Fi is available.
There is plenty of parking behind the pub (accesses from the Burys, not the High Street) - 50p/hour and free from 7pm
Other monthly events in neighbouring counties.
The Surrey events have been inspired by the success of the Sussex and Hampshire meets and are nominally held on the fourth Thursday of every month. They are organized by local cachers and can be held anywhere in the county of Surrey. We are constantly looking for fresh volunteers to host events in different parts of the county.
