[FR] La chapelle Sainte-Marguerite date de 1600. C’est la plus vieille chapelle de la région. Elle est construite dans un style très ardennais et a parfois servi d’ermitage. L’intérieur abrite un bénitier taillé directement dans le roc et le toit est entièrement recouvert d’ardoise de schiste (les murs aussi étant d’ailleurs en schiste). Une partie du sol est dallée alors que l’autre est directement taillée dans la pierre. L’autel est constitué d’une énorme dalle en schiste. Vous l’aurez compris, la pierre de la région est sans conteste le schiste ! Cette chapelle fait partie du patrimoine culturel wallon.
La route qui passe à côté était autrefois la grand-route vers Liège, du temps où « voiture » signifiait encore « diligence ».
[EN The Sainte-Marguerite chapel dates from 1600. It is the oldest chapel in the area. It is built in a very Ardennes style and has sometimes served as a hermitage. Inside, there is a baptismal carved directly into the rock and the roof is completely covered with shale slates (the walls is also elsewhere schist). One part of the soil is paved while the other part is directly cut in the stone. The altar consists of a huge slab of schist. As you can see, the stone of the region is without doubt the slate! This chapel is part of the Walloon cultural heritage.
The road (next to the chapel) was yore the main road to Liège, when "car" still meant "diligence".
